Land Use Permit Program
Koniag’s Land Access and Use Permit System
Thank you for your interest in visiting Koniag’s lands. Our permitting program gives you the ability to experience our ancestral lands without damaging its pristine habitat or unparalleled wilderness character.
Unguided users are required to obtain a Land Access Permit, available online or at Koniag’s offices in Kodiak or Anchorage, and carry the permit at all times while visiting Koniag’s lands. Unguided Land Access Permits are valid for one calendar year. Koniag’s lands that are open to unguided users include lands on Afognak Island, Womens Bay, and parts of Karluk Lake and River. Please refer to the Land Access Permit application for all details regarding the terms and conditions of this conditional-use permit.
Guided users are also required to obtain a Land Access Permit, which are available at Koniag’s office in Kodiak. Guided Land Access Permits are only valid for one guided trip to Koniag’s land, and your guide must have a valid Commercial Use Permit from Koniag. Please refer to the Land Access Permit application for all details regarding the terms and conditions of this conditional-use permit.
The cost of Unguided and Guided Land Access Permits include endorsements for fishing, berry picking, small game/waterfowl hunting, and non-commercial filming/still photography. Other use endorsements, such as access for bear, deer or goat hunting can be purchased for an additional cost.
Please refer to our land-use map for additional details regarding permitted land access and use areas.
Commercial operators and agency users should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (907) 486-2530 to obtain a permit.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Koniag’s Land and Natural Resources Department at (907) 486-2530 or at email@example.com

Koniag appreciates your interest in recreation opportunities on our lands and your respect for our lands. Your compliance with our Land Access Permit regulations will result in a successful and efficient implementation of this program, which, in turn, will allow your continued use and enjoyment of these private lands now and in the future.
