The November general election is just weeks away. Sealaska encourages tribal member shareholders to participate in their state’s general election by going to the polls and casting an informed vote.
Alaska is home to approximately half of Sealaska’s tribal member shareholders. Alaska Natives make up nearly 20% of the state’s total population. In fact, Alaska is seen as a key state where Native voters could impact tribal members across the nation. According to Native Vote 2010, a voter initiative sponsored by National Congress of American Indians, the election results of the U.S. Senate race will deeply impact the rest of Indian Country, and it is vital that Alaskan residents turn out to vote this year.
