Karluk Wilderness Adventures launches new ventures

At the Great Alaska Sportsman Show, held in Anchorage March 31-April 3, 2011, Koniag’s Karluk Wilderness Adventures (KWA) introduced its two new ventures: Karluk River Cabins and the Kodiak Brown Bear Center. Both are registered under KWA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Koniag, Inc. On hand to man the booth at the Sportsman Show were Koniag and KWA staffers Chuck Reft, Lands & Natural Resources Manager; Fred Katelnikoff, Karluk Cabins Supervisor; Charlie Powers, V.P. of Corporate Affairs; and Sonny Vinberg, Project Manager for Lands & Natural Resources.

Full panels displayed large-scale photos of Kodiak bears, the gorgeous vistas at Karluk Lake and the world-class salmon fishing in the area. Fred Katelnikoff said that the group took advantage of the show to promote the Karluk cabin rentals and the launch of the Kodiak Brown Bear Center in 2012, as well as educate folks about the Easement Agreement between Koniag and the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. The booth displayed new full-color brochures, a PowerPoint slideshow presentation about the facilities in the area, and a two-minute video featuring footage of bears, fish and landscape taken last year by MSI Communications.

Shareholders can find out how to reserve a Shareholder cabin on the new Karluk River Cabins website at www.karlukcabins.com, with online cabin booking coming very soon. The new Brown Bear Center website should be up and running next month. You will also be able to connect to both websites via a direct link on the Koniag homepage in the near future.
