Kodiak, AK – The Koniag Board of Directors has endorsed Lisa Murkowski for reelection to the U.S. Senate in 2022. Koniag leadership is supporting the state’s senior senator for the third time in recognition of Senator Murkowski’s consistent work as an advocate for Alaska Native people and our state. She has demonstrated a fundamental understanding of the issues that matter most in our Region and across the Last Frontier.

“Lisa Murkowski gets things done,” said Koniag President Shauna Hegna. “Alaska’s representation in Washington, D.C. needs to be pragmatic and work across the aisle to garner support for Alaska projects that create jobs and economic impact on Kodiak Island and throughout our state. Lisa exceeds those expectations.”
Senator Murkowski has shown political courage to ensure direct relief funding for the COVID-19 pandemic was available to Alaska Native corporations. She worked tirelessly for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, assuring women in rural Alaska are included. Senator Murkowski also helped lead passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, bringing billions of dollars to Alaska.

“I’m grateful to work with Koniag and am honored to receive this endorsement,” said Senator Lisa Murkowski. “Together, we’ve worked hard to get real results that provide a positive impact for all Alaska. I look forward to continuing this partnership with Koniag, the Alutiiq people, and all Alaskans to ensure we continue delivering real results for our state.”
The U.S. Senate elections will be held Nov. 8, 2022. For more information on the upcoming elections, voting locations, or voting registration, visit https://www.vote.org/.
