Christine Kaineg Appointed to the Koniag Board of Directors

The Koniag Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Christine Kaineg (née Peters-Naughton) as our newest board member.

“Christine is an outstanding addition to the Board of Directors. Her extensive business experience particularly in federal government contracting will bring a unique skillset to the Board. I look forward to working with her.” Ron Unger, Koniag Chairman & CEO

Christine was raised in Anchorage and currently lives in Alexandria, Va. Her parents are the late Charles Naughton and Helen Peters of Anchorage, and her grandparents are the late Ralph and Clara (Nancy) Naughton of Kodiak. She is a Shareholder of Leisnoi and Natives of Kodiak.

Christine has been employed with VSE Corporation in various capacities since 2008 when VSE Corporation acquired former Koniag subsidiary ICRC, where Christine served as the Director of Communications.

Prior to her work at ICRC, she supported several Alaska-based initiatives, including AFN’s Alaska Marketplace and the Alaska Native Arts Foundation. Today, Christine works as Communications Specialist and Assistant Corporate Secretary at VSE Corporation where she oversees internal and external communication strategies and supports compliance and communication for the VSE Board of Directors and Committees. She holds a B.A. in Communications from Washington State University.

Christine fills the seat of long-time Board Member Conrad Peterson, who passed away unexpectedly in November 2020. Though we miss Conrad deeply, we know that Christine will be an excellent, thoughtful board member and we are fortunate to have her join the board.
